Hello! Welcome to the Mother Loaf Breads, a sourdough bread bakery based in Milan, Michigan. We are baking three times a week currently. Because we do a long, cold, slow-ferment, each batch of bread takes 2-3 days to produce. We also make soups, treats and sometimes specialty items like pasties, so stop by to see what we’re up to!


NOTE: We will be closed Saturday, Sept. 2, 2017 and will resume normal operations the following weekend.

The Loaf will also be closed from Sept. 29 to Oct. 21, 2017 for a well needed break. We will be posting about our travels and food discoveries via our social media channels as well as email dispatches.

This store is ALWAYS good. I buy their bread and I am never disappointed. I recently had their Roasted Cauliflower Curry soup and it was amazing, and their pecan bars are to die for.  Definitely a gem in Milan!

We drove from Ypsi to try the sourdough I heard so much about. We were not disappointed. The service was friendly and generous (we sampled many a loaf). We are thrilled the artisan bakery is nearby.
